Computer struggling to sleep? Follow this guide…

We need our computers to work exactly as we want them to, but this isn’t always the case. A common issue with computer systems is random waking up when the computer will wake back up without being prompted and this can be inconvenient. In this guide, I will show you how to fix this issue and safely send your computer to sleep.

1. Firstly, press the icon in the bottom left of your main display and type ‘Control Panel’:

Control Panel

2. Next, you’ll need to left-click ‘Control Panel’, and this will open the Control Panel. Then you need to left-click the Search Bar where it says ‘Search Control Panel’, and then type ‘Power Options’:

3. Now, left-click ‘Power Options’, and then left-click ‘Choose what the power buttons do’ in the left sidebar:

4. Finally, left-click ‘Change settings that are currently unavailable’, and then left-click the checkbox for ‘Turn on fast start-up (recommended)’, this will un-check it:

And there you go that’s the problem fixed!

Now your computer/laptop should sleep normally and should not wake up until you choose to use it again. If this problem persists, then don’t hesitate to phone 01329 535 001, contact us via our contact form or visit our workshop based in Lee-on-the-Solent.
