Brief history of Nigel Williams – Solent Way Computers founder.
Solent Way Computers was founded by Nigel Williams a local Lee-on-the-Solent resident in January 2019 after spending 32 years in the corporate world focusing on IT, customer relationship, and communication systems.
Nigel started his career with an apprenticeship at IBM back in 1988 and from there worked for a local Fareham company (Kommunicate, formally Erskine Printing Systems) for 9 years again in IT & Communication systems before moving to a large global corporation (Avaya) where he spent 19 years travelling all over the world designing highly integrated corporate contact centre solutions.
Nigel left the corporate world in December 2018 ending up with over 150 staff across the whole of the EU.
About Us Now
Wanting to move away from dealing with large companies and corporates, Nigel Williams founded Solent Way Computers to focus solely on supporting home users, residential customers, and small local businesses.
It all began with Nigel and his wife Esther, who manages the administrative side of the business. Just as the pandemic hit in 2020, Solent Way Computers hired its second technician, helping to expand the company’s reach across the local area. As our reputation for honest, reliable service grew, we brought on Callum Bradley as part of our team of technical consultants, followed by Tyler Styles, who provides mobile onsite support — visiting customers’ homes and small offices to resolve issues, install new equipment, and offer personalised training.
We’re all local people supporting our local community — living, working, and helping our customers throughout the Solent area.
Our workshop & office is based at the Fareham Innovation Centre, behind CEMAST College near Daedalus Airfield. We chose this location rather than a high street location because the Innovation Centre offers ample free parking, and you can park right outside our door if you’re bringing in equipment.
At Solent Way Computers, we speak plain English — not tech jargon. We’ll clearly explain what’s wrong with your computer and how we’ll fix it. If you need new computers or upgrades, we’ll identify your exact needs, source and supply the right equipment, set everything up, and migrate your data seamlessly. We’re not tied to any manufacturer, so we can always recommend what’s best for you.
Whether your computer is running slow, infected with a virus, or simply in need of attention, we can help. We offer a complete disconnect–repair–return–reconnect service, so you don’t have to lift a finger. Once reinstalled, we fully test your system to ensure everything works perfectly — and we guarantee our work.
Most of our services are offered at a fixed price, so there are no surprises.
