Solent Way Computers was founded by Nigel Williams, a local Lee-on-the-Solent resident, in January 2019 after spending 32 years in the corporate world focusing on IT, customer relationship, and communication systems.
Nigel started his career with an apprenticeship at IBM back in 1988 and from there worked for a local Fareham company (Kommunicate, formerly Erskine Printing Systems) for 9 years again in IT & Communication systems before moving to a large global corporation (Avaya) where he spent 19 years travelling all over the world designing highly integrated corporate contact centre solutions.
Nigel left the corporate world in December 2018 ending up with over 150 staff across the whole of the EU.
About Us Now
Wanting to move away from dealing with large companies and corporates, Nigel Williams founded Solent Way Computers to focus solely on supporting home users, residential customers, and small local businesses.
It all began with Nigel and his wife Esther, who manages the administrative side of the business. After growing steadily since 2020 and building a strong reputation for honest, reliable service across the local area, our in-house team now includes our workshop technician Callum Bradley, working alongside Nigel. Together, we focus on providing a welcoming, face-to-face service at our workshop. For customers who prefer support in their own homes or offices, we also partner with Tyler Styles, who provides mobile onsite support and equipment installation.
We’re all local people supporting our local community — living, working, and helping our customers throughout the Solent area.
Our workshop & office is based at the Fareham Innovation Centre, behind CEMAST College near Daedalus Airfield. We chose this location rather than a busy high street because it offers ample free parking right outside our door, making it completely stress-free to drop off your equipment. Better yet, you are always welcome to come in, sit down with us over a cup of tea or coffee, and talk through your tech issues in a relaxed, friendly environment where we can show you things face-to-face.
At Solent Way Computers, we speak plain English — not tech jargon. Whether you sit down with us in the workshop or give us a call, we’ll clearly explain what’s wrong with your computer and how we’ll fix it. If you need new computers or upgrades, we’ll identify your exact needs, source and supply the right equipment, set everything up, and migrate your data seamlessly. We’re not tied to any manufacturer, so we can always recommend what’s best for you.
Whether your computer is running slow, infected with a virus, or simply in need of attention, we can help. Alongside our friendly drop-in workshop service, we still offer a complete disconnect–repair–return–reconnect service if you can’t make it in to us, so you don’t have to lift a finger. Everything is fully tested to ensure it works perfectly — and we guarantee our work.
Most of our services are offered at a fixed price, so there are no surprises.
