Brief history of Nigel Williams – Solent Way Computers founder.
Solent Way Computers was founded by Nigel Williams a local Lee-on-the-Solent resident in January 2019 after spending 32 years in the corporate world focusing on IT, customer relationship, and communication systems.
Nigel started his career with an apprenticeship at IBM back in 1988 and from there worked for a local Fareham company (Kommunicate, formally Erskine Printing Systems) for 9 years again in IT & Communication systems before moving to a large global corporation (Avaya) where he spent 19 years travelling all over the world designing highly integrated corporate contact centre solutions.
Nigel left the corporate world in December 2018 ending up with over 150 staff across the whole of the EU.
About Us Now
Wanting to move away from dealing with large companies and corporates Nigel Founded Solent Way Computers and now only focuses on supporting Home, Residential and Small businesses in the local area.
It started with just Nigel and his wife Esther supporting the admin side of the business and just as the pandemic hit in 2020 we hired our 2nd technician. Shortly after we hired Frankie West who supports Solent Way Computers with testing and advertising as well as working for our sister company Hampshire Web Design. After 2 years of steady growth and a growing reputation, we hired Callum Bradley to join our team of technical consultants, and then also went onto hire Tyler Styles who is also mobile so spends quite a lot of time visiting customer’s homes to resolve issues / install new equipment, or just provide onsite support and training.
We all live locally, we work and support our customers locally and have now branched into Web and Graphics Design with our sister business Hampshire Web Design (https://hampshirewebdesign.net) supporting local small businesses & startups with their website / social media and online presence. We welcomed Thomas Williams into our team as our lead graphic designer, engaging in branding, logo design and graphic projects.
We are located in Unit 1 at the Fareham Innovation Centre, behind CEMAST College by the Daedalus Airfield. We chose this location rather than the high street as the Innovation Centre has a large free car park and if bringing in heavy equipment you can park right outside our door.
We speak in plain English and not techy mumbo jumbo so you can be sure of a clear explanation of what’s wrong with your computer… If you need new computers or upgrades, we will identify your exact need and can source and supply plus fully set up then migrate all your data from your existing systems. We are not tied to any one manufacturer so we can find the perfect computer for you.
No matter if you have a computer running slow, a suspected virus or malware problem, we can help. We offer a complete disconnect, remove, fix, deliver and reconnect service so you do not have to lift a finger. We test the machine after it’s been installed back in your home or business and guarantee our work.
